MOMO to the rescue
Air Harrods was recently involved in the ITV programme Challenge Anneka where the popular ’80s and ’90s television action girl Anneka Rice undertakes daunting challenges in aid of charity.
Her challenge this time was to produce and record an album of songs from the musicals and then to throw a gala concert to launch the album - in just five days! All her efforts are to be put towards helping forty UK children’s hospices, by raising money and awareness via the CD and gala event. The final, and in many ways the most important, element of her challenge, was for Anneka to put together a choir made up of the children from the hospices around the country (whose plight she was highlighting) to sing on the CD and perform the title song at the gala event accompanied by a celebrity soloist.
Owing to their disabilities transporting some of these children from their hospices to the Gala event rehearsals within the time frame was difficult so a helicopter was required. The use of Air Harrods Agusta 109E G-MOMO was generously donated by our Chairman Mr Al Fayed to fly two 12-year-old twin girls who suffer from muscular dystrophy from Plymouth to Guildford so they could sing in the choir.
The Challenge was a complete success and the CD is currently on sale for the benefit of children’s hospices in the UK who need to raise approximately 85% of all their costs to stay open each year which amounts to millions of pounds of fundraising. |
