New Luton FBO
Harrods Aviation is very pleased to unveil the details of the next stage in its development at the ever popular London Luton airport. The operation has only been housed in the present buildings since 2003, yet the last four years have seen annual movements at the base increase by more than 160%. The throughput of passengers has been so great that the FBO underwent investment only last year to refurbish the interior of the lounge areas but it is extra capacity the FBO now requires.
On 17 March planning permission was granted to Harrods Aviation for re-development of the building known as hangar 129 into an FBO with creation of a new 10,000 sqm ramp area. The new development is positioned adjacent to existing Harrods Aviation hangars 201 and 202 with their associated ramp areas and means that all our activities will be centralised at the airport bringing increased efficiency to our operations for the benefit of our customers. The total Harrods Aviation ramp area available to our customers following the completion of the project will be 20,000 sqm.
Vacant possession of the building was taken on 31 March and the site quickly secured. Harrods Aviation has appointed its contractors and is pleased to confirm that the proven team of RPS Burks Green (architects) and WSP (structural engineers) will once again work together on another prestigious Harrods Aviation project.
The new FBO building will feature an arrivals hall, two separate VIP lounges, two conference rooms, a training room, kitchen services area, direct Harrods Aviation controlled landside to airside access and 24-hour CCTV monitoring for the protection of both our staff and customers.
A first for Harrods Aviation at London Luton will be the addition of an arrivals lounge which will accommodate interview rooms for the control authorities.
Another exciting benefit of the new facility will be a private entrance way with direct security access. This, combined with our new position away from the roadways and congestion associated with the main terminal building, gives our customers more convenient vehicular access.
Work has already commenced on site to meet the earliest possible autumn 2007 completion target. Harrods Aviation is expecting a busy summer at Luton and will do everything in our power to ensure that passage through our existing facilities is as comfortable and smooth as possible for our customers.
