Harrods Aviation has always taken passenger and aircraft security seriously but, since the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, has further developed and enhanced the facilities and services that it has to offer in line with, and in excess of, new regulations.
The implications of the legislation brought in since 9/11 means that at the point of requesting handling, customers will be asked to complete airport disclaimer documentation confirming the category of flight they are operating. Should the category be 'for valuable consideration' - i.e. charter - then, under the directive, the aircraft will have to operate out of a restricted zone. All passengers, crew and baggage for that flight will therefore have to be security screened.
This is where Harrods Aviation is equipped to assist the aircraft operators. With full baggage and passenger screening facilities at both Luton and Stansted operations we are confidently able to offer complete peace of mind to anyone transiting our operations.
Harrods Aviation's security capability is all-encompassing and includes, but is not limited to; passenger and baggage screening, passport and visa checks, the exercise of access control, aircraft cabin searching, passenger profiling, vehicle checks, aircraft guarding and CCTV surveillance. In addition Harrods Aviation can arrange for a qualified security guard to travel onboard an aircraft, if requested.
We have been able to introduce new security measures while maintaining and protecting passenger privacy, which remains of utmost importance to us. We are also pleased to confirm that we comply fully with the Data Protection Act.
Indeed, the company's lead and professionalism in the field of security has been praised by the Department for Transport (DfT) who are responsible for enforcing legislation. We continue to work with the DfT to ensure complete ongoing compliance.
